BIOACTIVE REPTILE SOIL
Lugarti’s Bioactive Reptile Soil - Tropical is specifically designed for Crested Geckos, Day Geckos, Tree Frogs, Dart Frogs, and other rainforest species. It is a special blend of sphagnum peat moss, organic compost, oak leaf litter, fir bark, horticultural charcoal, milled sphagnum moss, fine sand and natural clay. It’s formulated to provide a living ecosystem in a tropical vivarium setting where organic waste material is broken down naturally by microorganisms. The substrate is truly alive and teaming with beneficial microbes and mycorrhizal fungi.
When used in conjunction with leaf litter and clean-up crews (e.g. isopods, springtails, worms, etc.), a microhabitat is created where good bacteria, microbes, and insects naturally break down mold, waste and uneaten food items left on the substrate’s surface, resulting in an enclosure that always smells clean and fresh.
Animals kept on Bioactive Reptile Soil are generally more active, alert and behave more naturally. You will notice digging species creating natural burrows, and foraging species rooting the substrate in search of food. This is what they do in the wild and it provides them with important physical and mental stimulation. You will also notice females choosing to lay their eggs directly in the substrate over any lay box you offer.
